14 Feb Simpsons in Sunday Times Top 100 UK restaurants
Simpsons restaurant in Edgbaston is one of only two restaurants in Birmingham to be included in this year’s Sunday Times Top 100 restaurants.
The annual list, featured in a special issue of the newspaper’s food supplement The Dish, was judged by a panel of food writers, top chefs and restaurant critics, including the late A.A. Gill.
Simpsons and Carters of Moseley were deemed among the best in East and
Mid Midlands, with Restaurant Sat Bains receiving the regional award.
In the words of The Sunday Times review, “It’s 18 months since the dramatic refurbishment here, and the food matches the sleek and structured interior.” It concluded that Simpsons, “might be one of the city’s old timers, but it has never looked fresher.”
Chef director Luke Tipping was delighted with the news, “The Sunday Times listing sums up perfectly what we’ve been striving to achieve since the refurbishment. It’s great to have the brilliant work of the team recognised and we’re looking forward to building on the success with exciting new dishes and events in 2017.”
